Last week, our Prime Minister announced the extension of the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) for an extra eight weeks.
Although more workers in our community can now get back to work as our province continues its incremental restart, many people will still be unable to resume work for the near future. Our government is taking swift action through targeted measures like the CERB to support Canadians through these challenges, and to protect their health and economic well-being.
Workers who continue to meet all eligibility requirements, can now receive the Canada Emergency Response Benefit for a period of up to 24 weeks. Our government will also implement changes to the CERB attestation in order to encourage CERB recipients to find employment and consult the Job Bank (Canada’s national employment service that offers tools to help with job searches), when it is safe to do so.
Border Restrictions Extended to July 21st
In order to continue to protect the health and safety of Canadians, our government has decided, in collaboration with our counterparts in the US, to further extend the temporary border restrictions until July 21, 2020. Our government will continue to monitor all developments to ensure the safest way and most suitable time in which to open our border to non-essential travel.

This opening is in full adherence of the advice of national, provincial, territorial, and local health authorities. Initially, camping will be available only for visitors with prior reservations and will gradually begin accepting new reservations.
We are also focused on ensuring that everyone has the most up-to-date information and that it is accessible. For daily updates, follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, or visit my website.
